Description

This illuminated multicolored fountain was implemented by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the late 1930s. The WPA was created under President Franklin D. Roosevelt to create jobs during the Great Depression. The fountain was later removed due to high costs of operation and lack of interest. The postcard pictured was printed by Genuine Curteich-Chicago, a company renowned for advertising city features in the 20th century.
